Been having some fun with the Xbox 360 lately. I call summer 2008 my "summer in Liberty City" due to how much time I spent there.

Let me share my thoughts on Fable II, or should I call it Feeble II.

First, I really enjoy the RPG genre. I thoroughly enjoyed Oblivion, Knights of the Old Republic, and a few others.

Fable though....boy what a load of hype.

It is so shallow in gameplay. Here is my list of gripes:
  • What's up with the random treasure chests littered randomly about? Who leaves treasure in a chest by the side of the road?
  • Why can't I loot corpses? That bandit had a sweet rifle, why can't I have it after slaying him?
  • Open world my ass. There are so many paths that have these invisible walls keeping you on them, and hardly any quests have different ways of resolving them
  • Magic is pretty simplistic. I stuck with fire and time freezing and never saw a situation where they didn't work. Why not throw a few fire-resistant challenges at me to force me to get other types of spells?
  • Infinite arrows and bullets.
  • Food heals..but it always makes you fat! What about moderate consumption and lots of physical activity to keep a hero in shape?
  • Very short game. After having spent months getting through GTA IV, it was kind of nice to have a game I could finish in two weeks of casual play, but if I had paid $60 for this game I would feel ripped off (thank you MSA membership for keeping me in company store discounts!)

I'm just glad that Fallout 3 was released right after Fable. Now there is something I can sink my teeth into!
